DON'T MISS TODAY'S BLESSINGS!

Perry is one with the boonie hat. This is part of Perry's church team.

Dear Goad family,

I was seated next to Perry on the flight form Miami to Tegucigalpa.
I want to tell you how sorry I am for your loss.

My name is Dovie Gross.  I met Perry when I was seated  next to him on the flight form Miami to Tegucigalpa.  I was  part of  mission team working in another area in Honduras.  Perry and I spoke of the different trips we had been on in the past and how we had seen God work.  Perry spoke of his passion for missions and how he loved being able to help others.  He talked of the work his team would be doing.  He was excited about the trip.  His love for God was obivious, and there was no doubt he was a man of God. Perry fondly spoke of his family.  It was evident that he loved you dearly. I first learned of the accident on Wednesday morning while in Honduras.  My thoughts and prayers have been and continue to be with you.
In Christ,
Dovie

Airplane Letter from Les & Kim

Monday, 12 February 2007
Dear Goad Family, We met your husband/father on a flight from Atlanta to Miami on Saturday morning. We sat right next to him on the plane. He touched our lives so much in the short time we got to spend with him. He told us about the trip he was taking and the good work he would be doing. We explained to him that we also would like to do mission work someday but have 3 small boys at home. And I explained that I would be concerned about traveling to another country. Buy Perry told us that he was not worried at all. And that he didn't live his life in fear. His strong faith was unbelievable to us. What a shining example of a godly man. He spoke to us about you all. We could tell he loved his family very much and loved the lord!!!! We told him that we would like our kids to see how fortunate they are to live in this country by taking them on a mission trip someday. And he told us that he did that with his son and it was great. What an eye opener!! I found it so sweet that he was bringing gum for the children. I'm sure that he was able to touch their lives like he touched ours. When we saw the news last night both my husband and I knew it was Perry that lost his life. We were both very sad. We are so sorry for your loss. We wanted you guys to know that it was a true gift to meet Perry. We only hope we can live our life loving and trusting in the lord as much as him. That hour and a half flight sitting next to him has changed us forever. And we are both very thankful that the lord let us meet your husband/father. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Letter from a friend

Family, I want you to know that I still tear up/cry when Perry and Ric's names are mentioned. People may think that it’s silly for me to do that, but they do not understand the relationship we had in Sunday School.  This past February, I wanted to send you and Marsha a card.  I spent over an hour looking for the card with the right saying on it and guess what, I couldn't find one. Then I thought, what do I really want to say and what can I say to these women that have lost their precious husbands?  So I didn't send anything.  I think what I want you to know is that Perry was a great guy (yes, I'm crying now) and I loved him like a brother (although he was the teacher's pet).   I can still remember all of his mannerisms and the smile that was always on his face (and the devilish look he would get when he thought he was going to aggravate me).   I know that God doesn't make mistakes and I also know that he must of needed a great guy in heaven.  And he got it (times two).  Always remember that Phillip and I are here for you if you need anything.

Letter from a friends

Kendra, Shay and Adam

I just wanted to let you know how much we love you you all. Your family is so very special. Sarah and Es enjoyed all the visit's to your home. We were talking about Mr. Perry's birthday being this week and Es said his beard was one of the things she liked most about Perry. She said it was very ticklish.

One of my favorite memories was of an afternoon at your home in the summer. We all went swimming; I stayed in until I "pruned". Perry grilled steaks; he was quite the "grill-meister", as the steaks were superb. I had been working so much, and it was a wonderful, relaxing afternoon.

Perry was an inspiration to me as a father. He was so active and involed with the kids activities. He gave me encouragement that I too can survive my little "Energizer Bunny". He was down-to-earth, and did not put on any airs; he always made us feel welcome and accepted. We miss him and look forward to seeing him again. I don't understand why things happened the way they did, nor do I claim to understand what you all have been through these past months.  What I do know is that we love you all and that you have touched the lives of our family. Thank you for who you are and what you mean to us

Love,

Drew, Ronda, Es & Sarah

Perry installed my HVAC unit

Hello Goad family,

I met Perry through Wes S. about 2 years ago when I was building my personal house.  After dealing with several contractors I knew all along that this man was special.  He just had a peace about him that I loved.  No matter what I ask him, he was always patient with me and had loving spirit.  He talked of his family but alawys wanted to talk about mine.  He truley cared for others.

Today as I was walking through my back yard I passed my HVAC units that Perry had installed.  As I said a short prayer for him I remembered when he was doing the final "set out".  He pulled around the house and started unloading the huge units in the hot sun by himself, never complaining one bit.  He was even smiling the whole time. I think about him alot and I will continue to pray for your family.  Wes and I continue to tell stories about Perry, because we will never forget him.

Perry was in my Sunday School Class.
All I can tell you is that he was one heck of a guy.  What you saw
was what you got.  He didn't put on any pretenses for
anyone.  I like people that aren't afraid of being
themselves.  Although he enjoyed picking at me, I
thought the world of him.  Ric was our Sunday School
teacher and he and Perry had a special bond.  Our
class will NEVER be the same.  Perry was a great guy
and I miss him.
